Angiosperms, also known as flowering plants, are characterized by their ability to produce flowers and bear seeds within fruits. They constitute the largest and most diverse group within the kingdom Plantae, with approximately 300,000 species identified. Angiosperms account for about 80 percent of all known living green plants.
Examples of angiosperms range from common species like dandelions and grasses to ancient varieties such as magnolias and highly evolved orchids. This group includes the vast majority of plant foods we consume, encompassing grains, beans, fruits, vegetables, and most nuts.
