翻译思考

While I’m taking on translation,what I have learned during the past few month is that I still have a long way to go, which means I’m ignorant of a lot of stuff. Literally I have to search meanings of both English and Chinese for tons of times. So far omg I JUST know that I’m not a pro in Chinese as well tho I’m a pure Chinese who has been learning Chinese for more than 21 yrs. Most of the time, I probably know the Chinese meaning but some terms which should be translated in an exact and brief way are so tricky for me now. During the process of learning, I realized how splendid Chinese culture is and how much I still haven’t acquired yet. Here is an example while I was learning Chinese.

The word is “缘木求鱼”I formerly thought it was used by Buddists who used “木鱼”。There is ,however, no relationship between two words at all. So there are two meanings of “缘木求鱼” 1. It means to look for fish up trees;2. it means you can’t get the destination without a good method.

That’s one thing and the other is for CE (Chinese to English). For me I have been learning English for more than ten years but I’m actually confounded sometimes by the usage of prepositions and adverbs. With so many new words to learn and review, I’ve come to realize my vocabulary is insufficient too. Therefore I must make some changes.

在我从事翻译工作的过程中，我在过去几个月里学到的是，我还有很长的路要走，这意味着我对很多事情还一无所知。从字面上来说，我不得不频繁地查找英语和汉语的含义。到目前为止，天哪，我只是知道我在中文方面也不是专家，尽管我是一个纯正的中国人，已经学习中文超过21年了。大多数时候，我可能知道中文的含义，但有些术语需要翻译得既准确又简洁，这对我现在来说很棘手。在学习的过程中，我意识到了中国文化是多么的博大精深，以及我还有很多东西尚未掌握。在我学习汉语的过程中，有一个例子。

这个词是“缘木求鱼”。我以前认为这是佛教徒使用的“木鱼”。然而，这两个词之间根本没有关系。所以“缘木求鱼”有两个含义：1. 字面意思是在树上寻找鱼；2. 它意味着如果没有好的方法，你就无法达到目的地。

那是一个方面，另一个方面是中英翻译。对我来说，我已经学习英语超过十年了，但我实际上有时使用介词和副词感到困惑。有这么多新单词需要学习和复习，我意识到我的词汇量也很匮乏。因此，我必须做出一些改变。
