In some cases, the blocks are simply upgrades over the default ones. But in other cases, they are completely new tools. With 20 unique blocks, there is something for everyone to utilize.

Today, I will demonstrate what you can get by installing the Gutenberg Blocks with AI by Kadence WP plugin.

This tutorial is for:
WordPress 6.5.4
Plugin: Gutenberg Blocks with AI by Kadence WP v3.2.42

Is AI Useful for Creating Web Content?

While AI is still in its infancy, it can be an invaluable tool when it comes to generating ideas or bulk text that you can use as a reference. Does it actually compare to a real human? No. At the moment, most people can recognize when an AI writes something.

That said, AI is advancing fast, and in another year or so, that may no longer be the case.

As such, websites should begin to incorporate AI into their writing process as a tool. It can help you save time by generating titles, headers, choosing popular keywords, and much more. There is no doubt that AI will play a major role in web design in the near future.

In fact, for many, it already is. And this plugin is a great option to start integrating AI with your site.

How to Use Gutenberg Block with AI in WordPress

The Gutenberg Blocks with AI by Kadence WP is a great plugin that adds over 20 blocks you can use in Gutenberg. These blocks range from small upgrades over their default counterparts, to brand new blocks with unique functionality.

As such, it is a great addition to your site. Many also include AI options that can help you generate some content from bulk text to headers. The quality of the AI work will vary quite a bit, so you will still be editing it to fit your needs, but it can help save time.

Let’s take a look at how to set this plugin up and what some of the blocks include.

The plugin will automatically add the blocks to Gutenberg, but to get the AI functionality, you will need to sign up for Kadence AI. The process is free, and you will get some free credits to test the features.

That said, if you plan on using the AI regularly, you will need to pay for credits as you go, which can add up fast depending on your usage. To sign up, click on the Kadence option on the left-hand admin panel.

Kadence

The first time you click on this, you will be asked if you want to allow the plugin to collect data to improve itself. Feel free to opt-in or decline as it has no impact on using the plugin. Now, click on the “Get started With Kadence AI” button.

Get Started

This will bring you to a screen where you can either log into your Kadence account or create a new one. I will not go through the account creation process, as it is rather straightforward. You will just need a valid email address that you will need to verify.

Once you create your account and go through the quick summary, Kadence will automatically connect with WordPress.

Not all of the AI features are tied to blocks. There is a library of AI-generated layouts and content you can use on your site. It’s as simple as visiting the library and downloading it.

Blocks That Come with Kadence

At this point, you are ready to see what kinds of blocks the Kadence plugin will add to Gutenberg. Even if you do not have AI access from Kadence, the blocks will still work fine.

That said, not that many of the block actually utilize the AI. Due to the sheer quantity of blocks, I cannot show them all. Instead, I will highlight some of the major ones.

Text (ADV)

Text ADV

The Text block from Kadence is essentially a paragraph and header block combined into a single block. It behaves similarly to the default option, but there is one key difference, you can use Kadence AI to write for you.

By clicking on the AI option, you simply need to tell it what to write. For example, I told it to explain how AI can help me with a blog and got the following results:

You can have it make the text shorter, longer, or try writing it again if you are unhappy. Just keep in mind that each usage is one credit, so constantly having the AI change it can eat up your free credits.

Testimonials

Testimonials

Testimonials play a huge role for online stores. It allows them to share customer experiences with their services or products. The Testimonials block makes it easy to display these anywhere on your website.

You can enter a title at the top, the testimonial description, and finally who it is from, which includes a spot for an image. There’s nothing complicated here, but there are also some advanced options that allow you to enter custom CSS.

With this, you can style the testimonial and create a unique design, assuming you know how to code with CSS.

The Show More block allows you to display previews of content. You can use it to display excerpts of your post content, product descriptions, and so on. Users can use the Show Less button to hide these excerpts as well.

Speaking of the buttons, you can freely customize these by changing the color of the button, font color, font type, size, and so forth. Alternatively, you can add custom CSS to customize them with more unique designs if you wish.

Tabs

Tabs

The Tabs block is an interesting tool as it allows you to separate content into tabs, which not only improves navigation, but also saves space. The block offers multiple design options to choose from including both vertical and horizontal options.

In terms of editing, all you need to do is click on the tab and use the Gutenberg editor as you normally would. It is very handy for breaking tutorials up or DIY projects.

Countdown/Count Up

Countdown Count up

Kadence provides both a Countdown and Count Up block. The Countdown block allows you to create a countdown timer to display. It is perfect for showing how long a sale will last, or how long until the next big event.

The Count Up block is used as a tool to display interesting stats in a more visual manner. For example, showing the number of customers you have getting counted up instead of just displaying the final number.

Table of Contents

Table of Contents

What makes this Table of Contents block standout from the default one is the level of customization you have. You can have it exclude certain headers, customize the margins, fonts, and so forth.

It is far more robust than the default option, so it is a no brainer to use if you are using that one.

Icon

Icon

The icon block is very simple. It allows you to choose an icon from the icon library to display on your site. You can adjust the size and color of the icon to fit your needs. There is also an Icon List block in case you want to display multiple icons next to each other,

Add More Block Options in Gutenberg Today

As you can see, Kadence can add a lot of new options to WordPress or enhance the existing ones. Having more blocks to choose from is great for a web developer because you can create more unique content.

The inclusion of the AI can also help you generate text, but you will most likely want to edit it as the writing can seem stiff or unnatural. That said, it can save you a lot of time in some cases.

I hope you found this tutorial on how to use the Gutenberg Block with AI for WordPress helpful.
