Life-long Learning Project
Good morning, every one! Thank you Claudia for offering me this opportunity to share my experience and perspective on Life-Long Learning project. On behalf of all the members of this project to express our gratitude and pay our respect to all the professors and faculty members of FHSS in UNNC who made this project possible for us. Thank you for everything!
My name is Cici. I am an English teacher. I have been a member of Life-Long Learning project for more than three years. I still remember the day when I heard about this project from the Documentary Premiere of OPUS 839 in 2021. It told a story about one pipe organ which brought to Ningbo by Justin Berg. He was a teacher in UNNC and was also my pipe organ teacher. After the premiere, I applied for this project as soon as possible. I was so excited to get the confirmation letter from the faculty member of UNNC.
It was my first time to attend the opening ceremony of Life-Long Learning project in October 2021. I was so thrilled and arrived the university very early. There was another lecture in the conference room at that time, I waited outside and forgot the time of opening ceremony, so I was half an hour late at last but still very excited. From the beginning of project, we were invited to ask good questions during the lecture for attendance record. Since then I have tried my best to listen to lectures carefully and ask the related questions. I used to be shy before. I am grateful to have those opportunities to share my opinions in public.
I love the international academy and culture atmosphere of UNNC. I enjoyed and benefited a lot from many academic lectures for the past three years. Through Professor Douglas Bell’s lecture, I learned some information about methodology and pedagogy in EAP. Professor Catriona’s lecture “Memory” and Ms. Rosa’s lecture “AI in Higher Education” gave me some good ideas for my teaching. During Ms.Rosa’s lecture, I even had chance to speak Spanish in public the first time. Professor Henry Jenkins is one of the most renowned scholars in communication and media study. I am grateful to have the opportunity to listen to his lecture “Why Fandom Matters”. Sometimes the professors delivered the lectures in Ningbo library, I brought one of my student and my son to the lectures with me. We are grateful that all the professors and faculties are very nice and patient to us. I met some excellent classmates who shared the similar values with me in this programme, we tried to learn from each other and improve ourselves. I still remember the day when professor Gary gave me the first graduation certificate and said “Never stop learning, always be curious and creative ,have critical thinking.” Today I get my third graduation certificate, I will try my best to become better and excellent day by day. I am grateful for professor Catriona’s welcoming and warm speech, I appreciate for the new opportunity to continue my study here again. Thank you!
