Feezing cold
As I reflect on today’s biting cold, I realize how thoroughly it confined me indoors. Though I layered myself in the only jacket I had—having carelessly left my winter wardrobe at home and kept only summer clothes here—the chill seeped relentlessly into my room. The window was tightly shut, yet an invisible draft lingered, likely creeping through the narrow gap beneath the door or escaping from a small hole in the wall, perhaps designed for an air conditioning unit. Every breath felt crisp, a reminder of winter’s uninvited persistence.
Tomorrow promises no respite, with forecasts predicting another frigid day. The thought of braving the cold to commute to the office fills me with dread, yet I know I have little choice. Survival, it seems, will demand creativity: layering lightweight clothes, perhaps brewing endless cups of tea, or huddling near the lukewarm radiator that barely fights the icy air.
Amidst this battle against the cold, I found solace in completing the Saville assessment for Emirates—a task I had approached with unwavering confidence. That confidence wavered, however, when I reviewed practice materials I’d purchased online. The reality of solving four complex questions within a mere two minutes stunned me; the time constraints transformed what seemed manageable into a daunting sprint. It was a humbling lesson in the gap between assumption and execution.
Now, as I brace for another shivering day, I’m struck by the parallels between the relentless cold and the Saville assessment’s demands. Both require resilience, adaptability, and a willingness to confront unexpected challenges—whether it’s a drafty room or a race against the clock. Tomorrow, I’ll face both with equal parts resolve and a touch of reluctant acceptance.
